Fort Bend, Texas:

The 2023 Sugar Plum Market, organized by the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) and sponsored by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, raised $332,000. In early December, 29 local nonprofits were celebrated and awarded grants to assist in furthering their organizational missions. The celebration, hosted by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, included speakers, Malisha Patel, Senior Vice President and CEO of MHSL, and Jessica Gregory, FBJSL President 2023-2024.

“Our 23rd annual market, along with previous years, allowed us to provide more than $4.5M to over 100 local non-profits,” Gregory stated. During the check presentation, Malisha Patel expressed her gratitude, “Our partnership with the Fort Bend Junior Service League and their philanthropic contributions provide channels for us to be a part of those efforts to truly impact the community in many different ways.”

FBJSL would like to express our gratitude to our generous sponsors, patrons, and all the FBJSL members who made this event a success. This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable dedication of our title sponsor, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. We extend our deepest gratitude to our valet sponsor, Momentum BMW, and our new Santa Photo sponsor, Roadrunner Moving and Storage. Special appreciation goes to our other valued top sponsors: AlphaGraphics, Silt Solutions, Pierce Built Homes, Trustmark National Bank, and The Audra O’Neal Team. The vital backing of these outstanding community partners, along with many others, has truly shaped the success of the event.

Grants were awarded to the following 29 local nonprofits; AccessHealth, The Arc of Fort Bend County, Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston, Brazos Bend Guardianship, Catholic Charities, Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Clothed By Faith, CollegeCommunityCareer, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, Family to Family Adoptions, Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, Fort Bend Women’s Center, Fort Bend History Association, Fort Bend Hope, Fort Bend Rainbow Room, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, Gigi’s Playhouse Sugar Land, God’s Garden, Hope for Three, Hope Fort Bend Clubhouse, Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, Katy ARTreach, Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, Parks Youth Ranch, Reining Strength Therapeutic Horsemanship, San Jose Clinic, Sole Loved, and Texana Center. The remaining proceeds from the 2023 Sugar Plum Market will support the FBJSL Community Assistance Fund, which helps additional local nonprofits with smaller or emergency grant needs throughout the year.

We appreciate the community’s support and look forward to continuing our efforts to make a positive impact on people’s lives. For more information on the Fort Bend Junior Service League, our Sugar Plum Market, and how to get involved please visit www.FBJSL.com.
